| News - Naturediet in Eastern Europe
Great news : Naturediet is now also available in the 2 main EU Balkan countries, Romania and Bulgaria, thanks to a new partnership with A-brand distributor Profipet.
The exclusive cooperation with Profipet is one of the latest ones in the recent European expansion of Naturediet, which has seen our great dogfood for sale in Holland, Finland, Norway and, more recently, Greece.
Profipet is the largest pet product distributor in Romania, and operates in this country a chain of stores under the name “Zoo Mania”, which also has a number of outlets in “neighbour” Bulgaria. Founded in 1995, the company has grown with the representations of well-known industry suppliers across the continent. In addition to its own retail outlets, with its logistic platform of no less than 5 distribution centres, Profipet supplies also most of the other specialty petshops in the said countries.
Eastern Europe in general is a true challenge these days for export-oriented companies in the petfood industry like Naturediet. A recent survey has shown that, despite the economic downturn, there is a growing desire amongst consumers for higher quality petfood. According to this survey, despite an average monthly spend equivalent of just € 13,32 on petfood, especially the Romanians living in the cities are prepared to pay a little bit extra provided that the quality is reliable. The situation in Bulgaria is a bit similar: brand loyalty is still developing, but once introduced by a locally reputable partner, the outlooks are promising for companies that are serious about brand-building and always put quality first, like Naturediet.
ND Export Sales Manager Sander van Kesteren : “We are really enthusiastic about working with Profipet, and about relying on them in delivering our premium products into the heart of
the Balkan market. Although so far only a small percentage of dog owners in the area feeds its pets industrially-produced food, through the distribution strength of Profipet, backed-up
by informative promotional materials, we hope to make inroads into that figure”.
