News - Greyhound Rescue Kennel Trusts in Naturediet

Holistic pet food manufacturer Naturediet has raced to the rescue of 16 greyhounds resident at the Retired Greyhound Trust in Perry Barr, Birmingham.

Now, thanks to a generous donation of Naturediet pet food, the greyhounds are guaranteed a healthy diet to set them up for a new life.

The plight of the Perry Barr Greyhound Trust was brought to the attention of Naturediet’s Managing Director Carol Wilcox through her mother Betty Wilcox who resides in the area. Successfully defending the kennels against closure from Solihull Council left the Trust facing financial difficulties as it struggled to meet the costs of feeding its inhabitants.

Across the country around 9000 greyhounds retire from racing each year often as young as 2 or 3 years old. Only a minority of these dogs will find homes, which makes the continued survival of the trust all the more important. Although generally healthy, dog’s arriving at the trust can sometimes be suffering from ailments such as skin and allergy problems. Naturediet’s holistic approach to pet food is perfectly suited to these dogs.

Racing dogs are raised on additive-free food to maximise health and performance. As such they cannot tolerate the highly processed ingredients or food additives that are found in most commercial pet foods. Naturediet menus are free from all artificial additives, preservatives, colourings and flavourings making them the perfect choice for performance dogs or those suffering with allergies or skin problems. Highly digestible, each pack contains a minimum of 60% real meat mirroring the dog’s natural diet and providing an excellent balanced diet for even sensitive dogs.

The generous donation was personally delivered to the Trust by Carol who comments: “We are proud to be able to help the Perry Barr Greyhound Trust. It is wonderful to know that these dogs can now benefit from our natural approach to overall health and digestion. Hopefully benefits brought by Naturediet will help in finding many of these dogs a new home.”
